A confecção de dispositivos miniaturizados, em escala micro e/ou nanométrica, é uma demanda frequente para as mais diversas áreas tecnológicas. Técnicas de processamento a laser tem sido amplamente empregada para a fabricação dessas estruturas. Em especial, a polimerização via absorção multifotônica (PAM) tem se destacado como uma ferramenta versátil, dinâmica e de fácil operação, permitindo alcançar dispositivos com resolução que superam o limite de difração. Nesse trabalho, descreveremos os principais fundamentos teóricos envolvidos na PAM, bem como as potenciais aplicações dos dispositivos fabricados. Em especial, discutiremos sobre as aplicações em bioengenharia, destacando alguns trabalhos recentes.
