Muito se tem falado sobre o enve- lhecimento da população, suas causas e consequências. Para se ter uma ideia, no Brasil, estima-se que, até 2050, cerca de 30% da população será formada de pessoas com mais de 60 anos [1]. Este fato motiva a preocupação com o aumento da incidência de doenças e condições mais prevalentes nos idosos, dentre as quais destacamos a osteoporose.
